Personal
Mr H. Robinson, of Greymouth, who has been appointed to replace Superintendent E. Ching as gaoler at Wanganui, leaves for the north today. Mr A. R. Donaldson was elected a life member of the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Association at yesterday’s meeting of the general committee. While moving in this direction the chairman (Mr Duncan Mackintosh) referred to the excellent work Mr Donaldson was performing on behalf of the association and the city generally. They all recognised that Mr Donaldson put a great deal of time into the work. Wanganui was fortunate in having the services of such a man. Mr. Charles Waugh, who retired recently after 11 years’ service at Messrs. Kempthorne, Prosser and Company’s chemical works at Aramoho, was met by the staff and presented with two fireside chairs. Mr. J. H. Nodwell, who presided in the absence of the works manager (Mr. W. Moss) referred to Mr. Waugh’s long service and his readiness to assist his fellow employees whenever possible. Mr. G. F. Havill, who was associated with Mr. Waugh at the commencement of his service when the works were under construction, also referred to his pleasant associations with the departing guest. Mr. Waugh suitably responded.
