BLOMFIELD AND DUSEK DRAW BOUT AT MARTON (Own Correspondent.) I In a fast and spectacular bout, with j a little sideplay at times, “Lofty” | Blomiield (16.8) and Danny Dusek n (16.3) wrestled a draw before a capac- a ity house last evening in the Marton u Civic Theatre. Blomiield had Dusek a in some clever holds but Dusek came w out of them well. From the first round p to the last both wrestlers went at it ti hammer and tongs, with plenty of elbow jolts and slapping, while Blom- o field at times kept the crowd amused t: by appealing to the referee. E Dusek secured the first fall in the g seventh round. He landed three heavy n jolts to Blomfield’s ribs that made the h New Zealander rather groggy. Dusek c then came in and dumped him to se- si cure a fall with a body press. The p round lasted about 20 seconds. w Blomiield evened matters in the last w round. The New Zealander went in 2 determined to take a fall and soon c had Dusek in pain with a double- A barred toe-hold. However Dusek o broke clear but Blomiield put the same hold on again and eventually C Dusek sunmitted and the E awarded the bout a draw. i a Amateur Bouts. a J. Davis (9.6), Wanganui, defeated C J. Phillips (9.10), Wanganui, on points n after a very tame contest. . T. Waldron (11.2), Rata, defeated C. p Marshall (11.4), Wanganui, on points p after a very lively contest. Both boys pleased the crowd with their exhibi- „ tion. J B. Sheppard (11.8), Wanganui, defeated Hakaraia (12.0), Turakina, on points. It was very evenly contested and the decision did not meet with the approval of the crowd. “Red” Jones (10.7), Wanganui, drew with T. Garland (10.5), Wanganui. The first three bouts were three three-minute rounds, while the fourth was a three five-minute bout. The referee for all events was Mr. Alex Anderson, of Palmerston North, while Mr. S. B.
