A RECORD WEEK
* OPERATIONS OF PLACEMENT SCHEME A new record of the number of placements effect in a single week was established by the Labour Department's placement scheme for the week ended last Saturday, during which 621 persons were found employment. The previous record was 527. Since the inception of the scheme it has been responsible for placing 4774 persons, and of these more than 50 per cent, have been found permanent positions.
