“MINE WITH THE IRON DOOR.” Prominent on the current Majestic double-feature programme is “The Mine with the Iron Door,” a picturisation of the favourite Harold Bell Wright romance read by millions “The Mine With the Iron Door,” a fictional dramatisation of a legend that has lived on in the American West for almost three hundred years, has been brought to the screen by Columbia with Richard Arlen in the starring role. Appearing in support of Arlen, the modern Cortez, are Cecilia Parker, Henry B. Walthall and Stanley Fields. “Hell-Ship Morgan” is a robust red-blooded drama featuring George Bancroft, Ann Sothern, and Victor Jory. Bancroft enacts the role of Captain “Hell-Ship” Morgan, swashbuckling master of the Southern Cross, a tuna fishing vessel which sails the treacherous seas. “Robin Hood of El Dorado.” Pages of the glamorous history of California, at the dawn of its conquest from Mexico by the United States, spring vividly to life again in Robin Hood of El Dorado,” coming to-morrow to the Majestic Theatre. The story is based on fact, and is that of the bandit and patriot, Joaquin Murrieta, who, driven from his humble farm by the ruthless invasion of gold-seekers in 1848, waged war I against the Americans who slew his wife and brother-in-law. In the title role Warner Baxter reaches great heights. The whole picture carries with it the atmosphere of old California, with its peaceful, happy Mexicans living under a survival of the old feudal system. To them, the American gold-seekers, roystering, bullying, and avaricious are shown up in striking contrast. Ann Loring, Bruce Cabot, the beautiful Spanish dancer Margo, J. Carrol Naish, Eric Linden, and Edgar Kennedy all have important roles. The supporting programme is also a fine one, and includes newsreels, an "Our Gang” comedy, and a musical cartoon.
