SOCIAL EVENING. A very enjoyable evening was spent on Thursday when members of the Anglican Church, together with Presbyterians gathered to welcome the Rev. and Airs. Watkins. Games lad competitions were thoroughly enjoyed and a dainty supper was served by the Ladies’ Guild. Air. R. Gardner, on behalf of the Anglican members, wished Air. and Airs. Watkins a very happy time during their stay in Mangaweka. The Rev. AlacCullum, on behalf of the Presbyterian Church, also spoke words of welcome. The Rev. Watkins suitably replied. W;D.F.U. A small but enthusiastic meeting was held on Thursday, the business being to form a branch of the Women Division of the Farmers’ Union. Ain T. Stewart of Ohingaiti, accompanied by Airs. Lowry, addressed the gather ing and explained the object and wjrk of this organisation. After a lengthy discussion it was de cided to form a branch in this town The following were elected for the year:—President, Airs. A. Pearce; vice presidents, Alesdames H. Wilson and ID. Gorringe; secretary, Airs. L. Bailey: committee, all members; advisory mem bers, Alesdames T. Pairman and G Green, subject to Airs. Green’s consent. It was decided to hold meetings om e a month, members to bring a plate foi afternoon tea. Subscriptions for the year, 2s 63 pei members. A donation of £2 was handed t-o the secretary. The meeting closed with a heart} vote of thanks to Alesdames Stswail and Lowry.
