Dempster (New Zealand), the Leicestershire captain, is now at the head of the English first-class county cricket averages, being ahead of Leyland (Yorkshire). Verity (Yorkshire) is easily the leading bowler and also occupies third place in the batting averages
RAIN STOPS PLAY COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP LONDON, June 14. Kain fell throughout the country and, as a result, there was no piny in the following county cricket matches:— Surrey v. Essex, Derbyshire v. Yorkshire, Lancashire v. Middlesex, Worcestershire v. Hampshire. Oxford Unixersity v. Leicestershire. Cambridge University v. Free Foresters, and Nottinghamshire v. Indians.
