WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

KAI IWI MEETING. The Kai Iwi Women’s Institute met on June 11, Miss McCullock presided. The meeting opened with the singing of the New Zealand Anthem and then the business part was discussed. Mrs. Burns will go as a delegate to the conference at Dunedin in 3uly. We were pleased to have with us visitors from Aramoho, also Miss Young, voluntary organiser for Wanganui district, who gave a most interesting “travel” talk; listeners became so inspired. that they felt like packing their bags and becoming tourists. Mrs. Morrison, senior, gave a detnontration on hairpin work, and there were many enthusiasts eager to learn, Mrs. Flintoff rendered two delightful songs. Next meeting members are asked to bring along an article, something new from something old; these will be given to those in need. The competition results were: Plate of biscuits, Mrs. Burns 1, Mrs. J. Morrison 2. Miss J. Huwyler 3. Handworked tray cloth, Miss B. Wilson 1, Mrs. C. Morrison 2, Mrs. Burdess 3. Competition for July will be a pound of dairy butter. The Institute Drama Circle will hold a concert and dance on the last Thursday in the month. The hostesses for next meeting will be Mesdames Wills, J. Morrison, C. Morrison, Huwyler, Goldsbury and Miss Huwyler,
