DARING BURGLARY

INTRUDER ESCAPES [ Per Pres* Association J WAIPUKURAU, June 16. Waipukurau was the scene of a daring burglary exploit at about 2.30 this morning, when a man, thought by the night watchman, Mr E. G. Price, to bo between 30 and 35 years of age., was found by him in the premises of 11. B. Poppellwell and Co., Main Street, packing up men’s clothing into boxes. The burglar escaped and apparently reached a waiting car. He left an overcoat, chisel, and tyre lever behind in his hurried exit. The criminal or a confederate evidently stole 12 gallons of petrol from Mr F. Wells’ garage after smashing a lock in the endeavour. An attempted entry was made ut two other shops.
