TOURIST CRUISES
STRATHNAVER AT AUCKLAND OVER A THOUSAND VISITORS. [Per Ff««b AMocixtlon. ] AUCKLAND, March IS. ith over 1000 Australian tourists on board, the P. and O. liner Strathnaver arrived at Auckland this afternoon on the final trans-Tasman tourist cruise of the season. Officials of the New Zealand Government Tourist. Department travelled on the liner froir. Australia and arranged large booking! for various overland tours during the visitors’ brief stay in the Dominion. Many of the tourists are making on '- day trips to Rotorua, while others are leaving on overland rail and car tours of the North Island. All are visiting Rotorua and then proceeding via National Pajk, New Plymouth or Napier to Wellington. The Strathnaver will leave Auckland at 11.15 p.m. to-morrow for Wellington, sailing from Wellington for Sydney on Monday night. This is the Strathnaver’s second trij of the season. All told, there hav< been five tourists cruises by the Strath naver, Strathaird, Orama and Otranto with a total of 4690 tourists, mj against 4300 last season. The increase is the result of co-operatinn between the Tourist Department and the interested shipping companies, and is regarded by all parties as a particularly hopeful sign for the future. v
