Woodward, S.M.. in the Hawera Court to-day, in inflicting a fine of £2O on a charge cf negligent driving against Barclay Harrington, aged 19. “Defendant said bis speed was .30 miles an hour, but it was probably twice that, and he will be prohibited from obtaining a licence for twj ears. ’ said the magistrate. “I had intended to inflict imprisonment but for the excellent character defendant ■ has been given by the police.’’ Trie charge arose as a result of an accident at Hawera on December 12, i when a <ar driven by Harrington eolrith a cyclist, the latter rect ing a head injury and a fractured jaw.
