PALAIS DE DANSE

The Druids’ Hall was truly on fete on Saturday night when members of the 31st. Battalion Cairns Military Band were the guests of honour at the Palais de Danse. Constant attention to patrons’ requirements has won for the Palais de Danse the paramount position of the city’s leading halls and Saturday night’s unique function reached a happy termination and the floor was packed to capacity. A myriad twinkling lights resembling all the colours of the rainbow, the whole suffused by tints of amber, blue, green and red create a scene that defies description. This galaxy of colour and beauty is the setting for every Palais de Danse terpsichorean function. A specially selected programme was indulged in from 8 o’clock till the midnight hour. A delightful supper was served in a number of sittings and reflected i credit upon those responsible for Ils dispensation. The lucky winners of the Monte Carlo were: Mrs. Clark and Air. McCarthy, Miss King and Air. Gurney, Afiss Scott and Air. Grahame. A spot fox-trot resulted in Mrs. Dunstan and Air. Carroll, Aliss ID-ickie and Air Hanton going the honours. All were applauded by those less fortunate. Air. Gilroy, as usual, fulfilled the duties of M.C. in his inimitable manner.
