WEDDING

HOLT—SIMPSON. St. Stephen’s Church, Marton, was the scene of a wedding of wide interest on Wednesday, when the marriage was solemnised of Margaret Katherine, only daughter of Mrs. W. J, Simpson and the late Air. -Simpson, Heaton Park, Marton, and Edward Durning, eldest son of Air. and Airs. E. D. Holt, “Bay View,” Napier. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. George Simpson, wore a frock of French parchment lace over taffeta. The skirt was flared from the knees and fell into a long train, and the neckline was finished with scarf ends. Her tulle veil was caught with a coronet of real orange blossom, and she wore a shoulder spray of the same flowers, and also an heirloom pendant of rose amethyst set in diamonds, the gifts of the bridegroom. There were two bridesmaids, the Misses Joan Rickman and Nell Simpson, cousin of the bride, who wore delphinium blue chiffon over taffeta, made with shirred neckline finished with blue and silver flowers, fit 1 ! bishop sleeves, and silver sashes. Mr. Harnish Simpson, brother of the bride, was best man, and the groomsman was ATr. Selwyn C’ullwick, NapiPi. The Rev. W. Raine performed the ceremony. Afterward a reception was held at Heaton Park, where Mrs. Simpson received her guests wearing a frock of black georgette, and a black straw hat. Her posy was of autumn-toned blossoms. Mrs. Holt wore navy floral flat crepe with hat to tone, and carired a posy fn tones of pink. When the bride an bridegroom left, the former wore a. frock or pale blue French crepe and large straw hat to tone. .

ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Alice Cameron, youngest daughter of Air. and Airs. J. Gardiner, of Te Kuiti, and Victor, the second son of Airs. A. Clapham, of Christchurch, and the late Alfred Clapham.
