STRANDED MAHENO

EFFORTS AT SALVAGE WEDDING ABOARD WRECK. BRISBANE, Jan. la. The Amaska Company, of Osaka, intends to spend about £lO,OOO in an attempt to salvage the Maheno, which is stranded on Fraser Island. The company is confident of success. A romantic wedding was celebrated in the saloon of the Maheno yesterday, when Miss Beatrice McLean, of Townsville, and Dudley Ernest Weatherley, customs officer on duty at the wreck, were married. As the deck was tilted towards the sea at an angle of 161 degrees, the clergyman had to lean backwards and the bridal couple and attendants lean forward. Throughout the ceremony the ship trembled as the 1 waves thudded against her.
