SEVENTEEN PEOPLE KILLED [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Jan. 15, 11,5 p.m. NEW YORK, Jan. 15. One of the most serious accidents in the history of American commercial aviation occurred near Groodwin, Arkansas, on Tuesday night. According to reports in the New York Times, fourteen passengers and three members of the crew of an American Airlines aeroplane were instantly killed when the craft crashed in a swamp. A few minutes before the accident radio reports from the ’plane declare! that all was well. As the flying weather was favourable there is no immediate explanation of the disaster. It is reported, however, that the crash was due to the loss of one of the propellers.
