Mr A. H. Parge-ter, 8.C0m., A.R.A., N.Z., of the Wanganui Collegiate School staff, has accepted a position as accountancy and economics master at Christ’s College, Christchurch. Dr. Edgar L. Bainton, the distin-
guished English musician, pianist, composer, and conductor, recently appointed Director of the State Conservatorium of Music, Sydney, will arrive in Wellington next Monday. The Music Teachers’ Association will give a reception to Dr. Bainton on Thursday, January 23, and the Registration Board has arranged for him to give a course of lecture-recitals to teachers and students of music. It is understood that Dr. Bainton will also broadcast from Auckland and Wellington.
The Rev. Father F. H. Terry, who for the past eight years has been diocesan inspector of the Catholic schools and colleges of Auckland, will leave shortly to take a two years’ course under the Very Rev. Dr. Corcoran, S.J., at the National University of Ireland, Dublin. He will pursue his further study of education leading tothe higher degree in that subject. The selection of Father Terry was announced by His Lordchip Bishop Liston at the conclusion of the Catholic Teachers’ Conference on Thursday. Father Terry, who was one of the organising officers of the conference, as well as one of the principal speakers, was born in Auckland, and had a distinguished career at Sacred Heart Colleggc, and later at Holy Cross College, Mosgicl. He took up his present appointment following a five years’ course of study at the Irish College in Rome.
