cabaret dance. Decorated with gladioli in every shade aud pink and blue hydrangeas the Elrick Tearoom was the scene of a cabaret dance arranged by the .Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association, and which proved a delightful ending to the North Island tennis championships held during .the week. Prior to the dance an enjoyable dinner party took place at the Rutland Hotel. After the picture theatre programmes were over several young people wended their way to the Elrick and finished up the evening there. Members of the catering committee of the Tennis Association were Messrs. D. G. O’Toole, W. R. Russell and V. Latham. The dance finished at midnight after a delightful supper had been served. Among those present were:—Misses M. I’awson, jubilee blue crepe romaine with frilled effect at neckline in lighter blue; Sheila Duncan, powdeiblue floral georgette; J. Corsbie (Ohristchurch), primrose silk crepe: B. Smith (Woodville), scarlet frock dotted in white; Betty Wilson, cloister white silk moire; Margaret Smith, floral patterned frock; Beth Pownall, lemon taffeta patterned with deep golden poppies; W. Swan, sapphire blue Swiss muslin pin dotted in white, cherry girdle; A. Stone, bright green faille; Svensen, pink floral georgette; J. Burnett, midnight blue flowered georgette; D. Moye, evening ensemble of duck egg blue taffeta; Messrs. N. Douglas (Hawera), W. R. Russell, tidy, V. Latham, V. Sheridan (Marlborough), B. Grumitt, ID. A. Robertson, G. McDougal.
