TASMAN FLIER
MR. O’HARA’S VISIT MANY PLEASURE FLIGHTS R.S.A. TO BENEFIT. The intrepid trans-Tasman flier, Air. W. AI. (“Pat”) O’Hara, was a visitor to Wanganui during the week-end with his low-wing Klemm Eagle monoplane. Air. O’Hara left New Plymouth in the morning and after stopping at Hawera, arrived at Wanganui at 1.20 p.m. On arrival Mr. O’Hara was extended a welcome by the Alayor of Wangariui, Air. W. J. Rogers, and Air. F. G. Seddon, secretary of the Wanganui brunch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. During the afternoon Air. O’Hara made passenger flights to assist the relief of distress fund of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the flights being given to those who made a reasonable donation. The passenger flights were continued yesteday morning and in the afternoon for a while, the pilot leaving the airport for Palmerston North at 3 p.m. Considerable interest was taken in the machine during its stay in Wanganui and those who were privileged to go aloft in it were loud in their praise of its comfort and speed. Painted blue and silver and with long bird-shaped wings, the machine presented a smart appearance as it flew over the city and justified the name Eagle. The machine has a retractible undercarriage and when the undercarriage was out of sight the smartness of the ’plane was considerable increased. The funds of the Returned Soldiers’ Association should benefit materially by the visit of Air. O'Hara.
