WANGANUI EAST BRANCH On Saturday afternoon the Wanganui East Women’s Christian Temperance Union entertained the members of the vradle roll and their mothers. There were also several friends present. Mrs Ihiy gave a very hearty welcome on behalf of the union. A programme of songs and recitations was rendered by the children, as follows:—Chorus, “Praise Him’ r Praise Him!” action song and chorus “Ring, Bells, Ring!”; recitations, Mavis Shannon, Elaine Black, Nancy Scott, and Una Colmer; song (in costume), Nancy Beck; recitation, Noeline Shannon; action song, “Farmer. Sow Your Seed,” Alan Scott and ‘chorus; action and chorus, “Two Little Hands to Work for Jesus.” An address w T as given by Mrs Duxfield on “Alcohol, a Racial Poison.” Afternoon tea was provided and a beautiful cake provided by Mrs C. Phizacklea, w’as cut and distributed. Each child received a small gift and a bag of sweets. The cake and produce stall was well patronised, and all spent a very enjoyable time.
