HITHER AND THITHER

A Gratifying Re&ult. Those who worked so hard for t'he St. David's Presbyterian Church garden party held ou Saturday, were very pleased at the result of their efforts, about £2O being the sum realised. Among the many who assisted at the stalls and competitions were Mrs. Penray and Mr. Healey. Christ Chuiah Choir-boys. Mrs. Trott of the “Rendezvous” was, ou a recent evening, hostess at a daintily served supper, the guests being the Christ Cihurch Chorister boys. Mr. Kitson, in the name of the choir, expressed appreciation for Mrs. Trott’s great kindness in asking the boys down to such an excellent supper.’ Mr. Trott, on behalf of Mrs. Trott., suitably ieplying. During the .evening several items by request were rendered, which were much appieciatcd by the guests, amongst whom were: Mesdames Dowsett, Batchelor, Ballinger, Kitson, and Miss O. Dowsett. A musical honour accorded the ladies brought a very pleasant evening to a close. Farewell Party. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Bateman entertained a number of friends at a party given in honour of their daughter, Miss N. Bateman, who will leave shortly for Melbourne, where her marriage to Mr. S. H. Bober will take place. Tih-e party was held in the Inges tie Street Hall, anti games, competitions, and items filled, the evening. Items were given by Mrs. Boulton, Misses Bateman, Nichols, J. Fear, Laurent, Messrs. Pike and Walter and Pickering. ing. The Rev. Mr. Nichols, on behalf of the guests, rare welled Miss Bateman, who has been a member of the Baptist Choir for the past 14 years.
