WRESTLING

JOHNNY WOODS v. KING ELLIOT TO-MORROW NIGHT’S BOUT. The local association have been very fortunate in arranging for Johnny Woods, the young Californian inatman, to wrestle in place of Cestoldi, who has been refused a permit by the Commissioner of Police. Woods is a very fast and clever wrestler and uses the flying tackle and drop-kick to advantage. He put up a wonderful showing against that great niatman, Earl McCready, by going the full distance, to be beaten by one fall. His opponent, King Elliot, is wellknown to local fans and can be relied upon to wrestle a fast and clever match. This will be Elliot’s last appearance in New Zealand this season as he is leaving for America next week under engagement to that great wrestler, Ted Thye. With both men young and keen, and liking the fast, open type of wrestling, this should- be a great match. An added attraction will be the return match between “Red” Jones and Ces Matson. Those who were fortunate enough to witness the first meeting between this pair should be keen to see the return match to-morrow night. The box plan ts now open at J. Goss and Son (’phone 4903) next G.P.0., and intending patrons are requested to book their seats, for which there is no extra charge.
