Guide Concert. As in past years, the Wanganui Guides, Brownies and Rangers arc again holding a concert, the* proceeds being in aid of camp funds. The programme includes a vaudeville farce, drill, Mickey Mouse cartoon, wand drill, Dutch dance, scarf drill, playette, songs by nurses, pirates and Dutch folk, while the Brownie people have been practising for weeks past two delightful items, ‘ ‘Cinderella” anfl •‘Alary, .Mary, Quite Contrary.” One or two individual items including a character sketch, violin solo, and dances, are also to be included in the programme. It is hoped that the public will give this worthy cause their wnoleheaiied support, and turn up in large numbers at the Opera House next Saturday. This summer 's camp will be held on Mr. Cameron’s property, Turakina Valley, a beautiful spot on the banks of the river, where all the things that make camping such a joy are ready close at hand. ! A Lucky New Zealander. Among the New Zealanders travelling abroad is Miss Alice Anderson “Glenara,” Eketahuna, wio left on an extended tour about seven months ago, joining the Strathiard at Sydney.. She travelled via Suez arriving in London on May 3, and was present at the Jubilee celebrations. After a very enjoyable and interesting six weeks spent in London she travelled on the Continent through Germany, Switzerland, France ami Denmark, returning to travel through Scotland and Wales. Very interesting correspondence from her conveys news of the extremely happy and wonderful time spent in sight-seeing and adventure. After resting for some time in London she visited Norway and Sweden and was very impressed with the charm and beauty of the city of Stockholm. During the jubilee celebrations Miss Alice Anderson was one of the New Zealand guests at the Buckingham Palace garden party held in July at which the attendance numbered 12,DU0. She was also present at the Empire dinner and reception tendered to Lady Bledisloe on her return to England. This much-travelled lady is at present in London having recently visited many relations and friends in the Old Country. She will make her return trip through America and break her journey visiting Los Angeles and San • Francisco. Miss Alice Anderson is a I nurse trained at the Wellington ! Hospital and has a farm of her own in the Wairarapa and is a sister of Mr. ■ A. S. Anderson, Mangaweka.
