ALBERTA
Sir,—The following extract from an Alberta paper may interest your readers: “The first meeting of the new Cabinet in Alberta was held on Wednesday, September 4. Premier Aberhart announced that the run to provincial certificates had stopped and deposits had started again. The Premier expressed his gratification at the return of tho confidence (beloved word of high finance) of the people.” The suspension of the redemption cf certificates was called by the Reid Government after the election. The dearth of news from Alberta and also from Canada is regarded by the social creditor with equanimity. He knows that if anything was wrung, screaming heiullinvs would soon appear. It as a remarkable J act how few New Zealand papers commented to Che Mackenzie-King party’ sweeping victory at the Canadian elections on a policy pledging them to self government in money; the keynote tu any permanent recovery. With it everything is possible, without it a Government can only benefit one class at the expense of another. Further loans lay up more debt for posterity with an. over increasing inte’-est burden for the present generation. —T am etc.. “ ALBERTA.”
