Keen interest is already being taken in the fixture and the stage i> Dow set for a show which should eelipsc all pre\ieus records of an association which has distinguished itself on many occasions. By reason of its zeal and enterprise the AVanganui A. and I’. Association has been well supported in the past

and this year’s effort ys no exception. The committee has ma<le every endeavour to ensure that town and country folk alike will find .something decidedly worth while in the ‘‘Show of Shows.’’ The attractions arc many and varied. For the farmer there x\ill be on exhibit a splendid range of slock, horses and sheep, comprising sonic or the best animals tu be seeu in Wanganui and outside districts. The Wanganui ’ Kennel Club’s annual show, which will be held in conjunction with the A. and P. fixture will be an additional feature which should help tu enhance interest , in the show. , Two most ini.portanl classes al the ■ coming show will be lhe New Zealand chilled beef championship and lhe com i petition for hill-country hoggets, a new-

class as far as AVanganui is concerned. The former competition last year met with exceptional success, and in view cf the recent comment of the chairman of the New Zealand Aleat .Producers' Board on the condition of the exhiliilwhen exhibited in the bmithficld mar ket, is a clear indication of the value of the competition. Air. Duncan expressed the opinion that lhe quarters had opened up in fine condition, and had been keenly appreciated by the tSmitlifield judges. The entries in the hill country wool grower®’ class, have been restricted to long-wool ewe hoggets in lhe wool, which have been bred by the exhibitor, picked from his main mob, and reared under natural farming conditions. The purpose of this class is to introduce the public to what is the most profit able sheep to be grown on the average hill country in the Wellington and Taranaki provinces, and it is intended for those back, country farmers who buy good flock rams and whose flocks are used for the purpose of growing wool and breeding progeny lor the same purpose, and who sell their ewes as four or live-year-olds generally as stores, A British and Japanese wool buyer are tu value the ftceces of the entries at, commercial value, and the amount of hair will be determined, ami with this information before him, Mr. J. E. Hewitt, of Alangamairc, will judge the pens for constitution, carcase and. wool. The Imlay AVorks, through the AVanganui Agricultural Association, are paying out for the chilled beef championship at the rate of 30s per lOOlbs. To-morrow, People’s IDay. will undoubtedly attract large crowds and special events of considerable interest, including a grand parade, will be staged. A ha).f-holiday will be obI served in the city, and banks, shops and offices will close for the occasion. Special train arrangements, which will be in operation both to-day and to-mor-row, will be of advantage to country visitors and, as is customary, trains will stop at the racecourse. Only fine weather remains to ensure the 1935 Wanganui Ehovv of the success it de serves.
