LATE JOHN BALLANCE

Sir. —By your permission I would draw the public’s attention to the constant repeating of “1 am like the late Honourable John Ballance,” by those non.-com. politicians. 1 can assure your readers that John Ballance was nothing at all like them. 1 was on the late John Ballance’s election com inittee when he stood in co-operation with the late Honourable Bryce against the late Sir AVilliam Fox; two members to be elected out of three, the Wanganui and Rangitikci electorates nt that time being joined together. 1 was also on his committee in 1880, wnen h< wa?defeated by Mr. Watt, of “Sand ridge.” by a few votes. I was also on his committees in the eighties, when he appealed to the country and only had three helpers and returned at the head of his party with 52 supporters. 1 have seen him and talked with him in victory. L have seen him and talked, with him when defeated, and I have seen him and talked with him in triumph ami sir, L tan assure your readers that the late Hon. John Ballance was never a twister, that he never changed from one party to another billet, hunting. Ho was always straight and above board—quite unlike these petty politicians who are forever repeating, ‘‘Vole for me; 1 am like the late Hon. John Ballance.” The very pcojile who support these politicians are the class who call the late Hon. John Ballance the seven devils of Socialism. These political “poll parrots” should stop blaspheming this Hou. John Ballance. When I hear them I become afraid that the late Hon.
