Cliestnutt (Baetihi), following on the disappearance ol I’hvllis .Margaret Davey, which occurred on July .17 last, a single man, David Nalhaii, aged 37, of Baetihi, was arrested and charged before Messrs. T. L. Lee and T. 8. Fagg, J.'si'., with abduction and unlawful earmil knowledge. Accused was remanded 10 appear al AVanganui on October 1. Phyllis Davey, who is 15 years of age, was missed on July 17 and although a vigorous police search was made she was not heard of again until | she came home on Tuesday of this week. She was out shopping at the Hi of her disappearance and walked 1 from one shop into another. Since then her movements became shrouded lin mystery. Police enquiries were coni ducted over a wide area, but with little success. The police now entertain a theory that the girl was never far from 'the main street in her own town.
