T. R. GEORGE’S TEAM

WOTAN OUT OF DERBY When T. R. George left the Dominion last month for Sydney he had visions of possible Epsom. Metrooplitan or Derby success with Princess Doreen or Fulojoy v Might or Wotan respectively, but now not one of these horses remains in the intended race after the first payment. George has no candidate in either the Epsom or Metropolitan, but he still has a couple in the Derby, Le Grand and Debham, the only pair in the team who apparently did not suffer from the rough trip across the Tasman. Still there has been nothing in the form of either Le Grand or Debham to give them even outside Derby chances. New Zealand owned or bred horses who remained in the Derby after forfeit were Linklet, Latharna, Maestro, Homer, Loud Applause, The Riff, Le Grand, Debham, Legatee, and Gay Sheik. There were still 45 horses in the race after this forfeit had been taken. Wotan appears to have dropped out of all his Sydney engagements. If T. R. George’s horses in Sydney fail to produce some sort of torni during the next fortnight they will prob j ably all be shipped back to the Dominion.
