'The police said that men were seen coming out of Ross’ place with l»ag< of liquor. \ search of lhe premises was made and 67 bottles of beer were found in a bedroom and 6o empties in a w ashhouse. Ross was li \ ing apart, from his wife and was nn employed. ‘‘The position in Invercargill isomewhat peculiar,” commented the magistrate (Mr. freeman . ‘‘The people voted prohibition 30 years ago. but there does not appear to be any prohibition. If you want to get a of beer, instead of going to an hotel, you've got to go to a brewery and get two gallons.
