STIFF RUAPEHU CLIMB TRACTOR’S FINE WORK THE CHATEAU, Sept. 2. Difficult problems were presented to official's of the Ruapehu Ski Club yesterday when they were faced with the transport of a 400-gallon iron tank "rum Chateau Tongariro. National Park, to 6000 feet up Mount Ruapehu, where a new hut is to be built. The tank was dragged behind a tractor on a sledge. The tractor was sometimes almost buried in snow and often in danger of turning over backwards. The tank was hauled up steep pinches by club members with a rope. The farthest point the tractor reached, 5100 feet, is believed fi be the highest a land vehicle has been in New Zealand. The tank reached the site at 5.15 p.m. after 7f hours’ work.
