CORPORAL PUNISHMENT
COMPLAINTS TO BOARD. [ Ter Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, Aug. 22. Increasing complaints of corporal punishment in the schools were discussed by the Education Board this morning, members reiterating strong disapproval of such punishment as an aid to teaching. It was resolved to send a memorandum to all schools, also to appoint a committee to rc-draft the by-law on the subject. A member stated that he had received more complaints in the last year or so than ever before, which might arise from the changed attitude of the parents. The chairman (Mr. Wallace): “In the old days when 1 got a lie, .ing, dad said I should have received more than 1 got.”
