HIGH-POWERED STATION

BROADCAST INTERFERENCE. [ Per Press Association. | CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 5. The change in the transmitting power of 3YA from 25Q0 watts to 10,000 watts, which was put into operation yesterday for the first time, caused considerable distortion in the reception of Dunedin and Auckland stations by listeners in Christchurch. The interference was so bad that it was impossible to listen to IYA and 4YA stations on good modern sets, the strong heterodyne whistling drowning the broadcasts. The trouble is likely to bo only temporary, and it. is probable that, listeners will be inconvenienced for no longer than a <iay or so.
