DANGER TO BRITAIN “MUST LEAVE LEAGUE” LONDON, Aug. 4. English newspapers receive the League Council decision with mixed' I Feelings. ! The Daily Mail, in a leader, says:— “The week-end events at Geneva have blown sky-high any doubts entertained by Britons regarding League membership. Never in all its years of expensive and menacing futility has the City of All Follies produced such a far.ago of dangerous diplomacy. There will be a month of meaningless negotiations in a desperate attempt to do something, and if this fails the Council must discharge its covenanted obligations. This means that Britain’s liability involves economic military action against Italy. Britain must leave Geneva and look after the Empire or we shall be manoeuvred into war overnight. A complete withdrawal from Geneva would delight Britain and the Dominions.”
