UNFORMED SCENIC ROAD
HANDED OVER TO BOARD PROTEST IKOM MOTOKIbTS ( Per Press Association. ) CHRISTCHURCH, July 18. Members of the general council ot the Automobile Association to-night protested strongly against the. Main Highways Board being compelled to take over the unformed scenic road in hglinton Valley to reach Milford Sou nd. “A think Ibis is one of the most serious things motorists have ever had to face,” said the chairman, Ah'. W. IL Carey. “ This road is a national one and not a motorists’ one, yet it has been put on to the Highways Board by an authority which says, ‘You have got to take n.’ ” ‘‘li. is the same old story,” said Air. F. W. Freeman, “lhe Government >s going to see that the motorist pays/' Efforts had been made, said Air. Carey, to put the cost of past construction to the board, but they had been resisted. The board was willing to take over 47 miles already formed, but because of the action of “this authority’’ the unformed portion bad been declared a highway.
