EVICTION FROM HOMES. A CHRISTCHURCH PROTEST. ( Per Press Association. ) CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. Protests against the eviction of re turned soldiers from their houses ant properties, were made at the annua meeting to-night of the Christchurch Ke turned Soldiers' Association. A inotioi was carried urging the incoming- exccu tive to do its utmost to see that all re turned men who had purchased homes in boom times should be given ever} assistance to retain them. The meeting also carried resolutions requesting the association's hcadquar ters to endeavour to obtain from >ac Canteen Funds Board at least £20,000_ and from the War Funds Council £20.. 000 for the relief of unemployed returned soldiers during the next J‘_ months. Support was given tu a resolution that in view of returning prosperity, the Government be asked to restore the cuts in economic and dependants’ pensions.
