EGMONT RACING CLUB

MEETING AT HAWERA ACCEPTORS FOR SATURDAY. £ P«r Frew AisocuUob. I HA AVERA, April 29. TONGAHOE HURDLES. (Of £120; IJ miles).

THE BROUGHTON CASE . APPEAL BY STIPENDIARY. An appeal against the decision of the Pahiatua Racing Club’s judicial committee i.u the inquiry brought against W. J. Broughton for causing interference in the Juvenile Handicap on the second day* of that club’s meeting on April in has been lodged by re-

ference from the executive committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference with the Wellington district committee, The appeal is a result of a notification by the officiating stipendiary steward, Mr. B. -N. Sandilands, that he considered the Pahiatua finding unsatisfactory, as provided by rule 57 of the Rules of Racing, and it will be heard at the ordinary monthly meeting of the district committee on May 10. After the Juvenile Handicap at Pahiatua an inquiry was called by Mr. Saudi lands into interference caused to Medway when the horses had gone about two furlongs. Broughton is alleged to have admitted, before the Pahiatua judicial committee that the horse he was riding (Finnesko) did check Medway, but, he brought evidence to show that Medway contributed to the trouble. The committee found that Medway, ridden by J. Sheehan, was partly responsible for the interference that was caused, aud on this finding it decided to take no action against either jockey.
