OBITUARY
WILLIAM MARTIN. The death occurred recently ar hi-j residence, Monck's Bay Redcliffs. of i Mr. William Martin, in his eighty iir.-i 1 year. Mr. Martin, who was the son of • Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martin, was born | at Kent, England, and came to Nev ' Zealand with his parents when he wa> i four years of age. They travelled from I England in the ship Mystery, and | landed at Lyttelton. They came round I to Sumner in a small boat to the Ferrymead, and for many years lived in a sod house on the Ferry Road oppo-ite ' St. John's Church. Wuolstun. Mr. Mai tin was educated at the Woolston and West Christchurch Schools, and at the recent jubilee celebration? of the Woolston School he was the oldest surviving pupil. He went into the fellniongery business, and for 27 years was in the ■ firm of Bowron Bro.-., being manager ; <>f the fellmongery department.
