MARIST JUNIORS MATCH WITH PALMERSTON NORTH. Having first, use of the wicket against bho Marisi, juniors, the Palmerston North juniors wore dismissed for 62, Ciilliss (14) and Brown (10) being the only double-figure scorers. L. Koorey was in line form with the ball and finished with the great average of seven for 18. G. Cleary also had a good time and collected three for nine. Marist were in difficulties at the outset of their innings and at one stage had six down for 37. The tail wagged to such purpose that the innings eventually closed for 105. Chief contributors to the total were D. Trnffin (26), C. Dashfield (24, including four 4’s and a six off ono over), B. IDow (12), L. Koorey (12) and C. Tuffin (12 not out). J. Walden was the visitors’ best bowler and finished with five far 25. Palmerston put on 138 in their second knock. Walden topped the half-century and his 51 was the highest score of the match. Colliss (25), Bulford (24) and Bewkes (17) did best of the others. Farrell (five for 19) and .C. Tuffin (three for 13) were the locals’ best bowlers. Marist required 96 for an outright win. Juvenile’s Death. The Riccarton trainer F. D. Jones had the misfortune last week to lose the two-year-old Abdiction. The colt was found off colour on Thursday morning and veterinary aid was summoned. Bay Tree Gelded. Mr. E. J. Walt’s New Zealand-bred gelding Bay Tree, by Chief Ruler (imp.)—Bayloch, is now a member of G. P. Nailon’s team at Randwick (says the Sydney Morning Herald).
