Damages amounting to £l6lO and. costs were awarded in the Supreme Court to-day to James Marshall, former superintendent engineer to Cable and Co., from whom he claimed £3OOO for alleged wrongful dismissal, and also asked for judgment for a share of the net profits which he contended was due to him. The Chief Justice said the company had claimed that by reason of incompetence and negligence on plaintiff’s part, the dismissal was justified,_ but they had failed to prove it. He accepted Marshall’s testimony against that of the defence whenever there was a conflict, and 'thought the company had only themselves to blame for all the trouble, and therefore must pay dam a ges.
