TENNIS. . The courts were well patronised on Saturday last, when an endeavour wa> made to advance the competitions a further stage. Many enjoyable and in teresting games were played and it is hoped that members will be stimulated to complete the competitions at an early date. Mercer, 6—3; A. C. Mercer beat J. Earle, ACCIDENT TO FARMER. A serious accident befel Mr. G. H. Pritchard, of Reppo Farm, Otara on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Pritchard was driving a nail into a hardwood board when the nail flew up and penetrated an eye. The sufferer was conveyed for attention to Dr. Burnett at Hunterville and was later conveyed to the Public Hospital at Palmerston North. It is feared that the accident will result in the sufferer losing one eye, and much sympathy will be felt by Mr. Pritchard’s many frienda.
