MILD TORNADO
N.S.W. TOWN STRUCK. MANY HOUSES DAMAGED. Received Feb. 5, 10.30 p.m. SYDNEY', Feb. 5. A mild tornado struck the coalmining township of Bellbird, in the northern coalfields, to-day. One house was wrecked, the roofs of many more were blown off, and timber and iron were hurled into the streets. The inhabitants, terrified, rushed from their homes and were enveloped in the dust and debris falling about, them. The disturbance lasted only a few minutes,, but at Cessnock, three miles away, nothing more than a slight breeze was' experienced.
