SINGING OF “AMEN" A R.CHBISHOP’S OL’ IN 1()N Received Feb. 5, 11.50 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 5. The evil habit of singing “Amen’’ at the end of hymns was deplored by the Archbishop of York, presiding at the London Church Alusicians’ banquet. “If a tune is a good tune, it comes to an end itself, and there is no need to sing ‘Amen’,” he said. “Very often ‘Amen’ has no particular reference to the words. It is never necessary, and it is rather a bore. ’’
