THE DEVIL—AFOOT Sir, —Those who sleep chloroformed by instinct, desires, or false beliefs, or bask in the danger zones of ideals divorced from facts will do well to read Helmut’s Klotz's book just to hand, “Germany’s Secret Armaments,” ■ written in July, 1934. The author accepts his task as he : states “as a sacred duty to arouse a slumbering world of its. responsibility to fact the gravest perils.” In this book is recorded the latest information of German “double tongued” leaders —of war preparations that will astound—plans of operation for existing mighty armies—huge military equipment —of war preparation factories working at utmost capacity of three day and night shift —the mobilisation of transport that have as their aim the “war of surprise” that fs the watchword. Full confirmation of the evidence is provided, and further endorsed by numerous other authors. It should be self-evident that while the many exist in superficialities, and the less strive with the symptoms of national, political, monetary disorders, a cancer is at work caused by the waywardness of natural man’s instinct, desires and beliefs refusing to respond to, and challenging the call of conscience to respond to spiritual purpose. The author reports Hitler’s statements to a few guests on the evening of his birthday of April. 1934: “In the listless irresolution of England lies our chance—in two years at latest (spring 1936) we shall have achieved our aim.” To sleep in critical days is dangerous. —I am, etc., “WATCHMAN.”
