TIRED OF THE NAZIS
KRUPP RESIGNS HITLER POST. Herr Krupp von Bohlen und Hal bach, head of the famous worKs at Essen, recently resigned his position as leader of German industry aim Head of the first of the 12 groups—mining, iron, and metallurgy into which German industry is divided, states the Berlin correspondent, of the London Daily Telegraph. He is succeeded b\ Herr Ewald Hecker, chief of the I’ham. ber of Economic Affairs, who enjoys the greatest respect both in party and business circles. This resignation is another sign of the extreme tension between the. Conservative forces around Dr. bchacht, the acting Economic Minister, and the radical-minded Dr. Ley, head of the Nazi Labour Front. Dissatisfaction with the interference of the Nazi organisation in his factories is the prime cause of Herr Krupp’s withdrawal. It is believed, however, in well-in-formed circles, that Dr. Schacht, might have kept him if he wished, but pre ferred to appoint Herr Hecker. Among business men there is no tendency to regard the affair as of any great importance. The industrial organisation, it is felt, loses n great name, and therefore some prestige, but little more. Herr Krupp, like many others, was tired and disappointed with the course of events in Germany, and preferred to devote his time to his own factories.
