The nuisance has been so severe in some flocks this season that farmers have had to do something to combat it. Recently one farmer and his men went through his entire flock with toothbrushes removing (he barbs. An other farmer used a nail brush on is dieep. Experts say t hat where thv weed is common, the nuisan'eo becomes a menace, the barbs working into the gums of the sheep and causing such damage that they have a definite effect on condition.
