REVIVING OLD MEMORIES (“Chronicle,” October 30, 1909). The tram rail cleaner invented by Messrs Taiboys and Thomas, underwent a successful trial on Thursday. The Mayor and a number of councillors were present, and were mu’cli impressed by the working of the invention, and there sho’uld bo a good future for it. The oil launch Wai-iti, which is to be used for excursion purposes on the Wanganui River, was brought from Waitotara on Wednesday by Messrs Stewart, Ramsay and Duncan, the craft , making the sea journey in 3} hours I At a meeting of railway men at Dan- | uevirke yesterday the following resolaItion was carried: “That this meeting, representing all grades of the railway (service, strongly protest against any
alteration of the clause in the Arbitration and Councillors Act referring to the. Society of Railways Servants, believing the same to be detrimental to its progress and railway men in general.
