ROOSEVELT’S EXPERIMENTS HOOVER RETURNS TO ARENA ißy Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright, Received Sept. 4, 9.45 p.m. PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 3. Condemning the policies of the Roosevelt which he inferentially labels as will-of-the-wisps, Air. Herbert Hoover, in the current issue of the Saturday Evening Post, declares that the people of the United States are faced with the issue of human liberty. The former President, in the first discussion of political questions since he left White House, decries the economic regimentation, and says: “The whole thesis behind this programme is the very theory that man is but the pawn of the State. It is the usurpation of‘ the primary liberties of man by the Government. It is a vast shift from the American concept of human rights, which even the Government may not infringe, to those social philosophies where men are wholly subjective to the State. It is a vast casualty to liberty if it shall be continued.” The article makes no mention by name of Mr. Roosevelt, but it includes a critical digest of the powers granted Air. Roosevelt, and assails the unAmerican attitude of Congress in granting these powers.
