MISSES GAISFORD AND KAY. CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERS. Received Sept. 4, 11.5 p.m. „ SYDNEY, Sept. 4. In the first qualifying round of the Associates Australian golf championship to-day Miss Gaisford was out in 38 and looked like establishing startling figures but missed many putts for 41. home. However, her 79 was a new course record, which will enable her to lead the field. Hiss Oliver Kay and Miss McLeod (Victoria) each went round in 82. Miss Ebert, Miss Lascelles and Mrs. McKay took 83. Miss Wray and Aliss J. Hammond took 84.' The course was heavy after the recent deluge, with many patches of water which told against good scoring. There is a 36-holes stroke handicap event called the Challenge Bowl running in conjunction with the Australian championship. Miss Gaisford with 77 is running second, but Miss Kay is seven strokes behind the leader, Miss N. Murdoch, who is 76. The second qualifying round of the championship and also of the Challenge Bowl event, will be played tomorrow. FOR TASMAN CUP AUSTRALIAN LADIES’ TEAM. PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED. SYDNEY, Sept. 4. The following team has been selected to represent Australia in New Zealand for the Tasman Cup: — Aliss L.
