HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. CONVERSION OF MOTOR-CARS. (. Per Press Association ). WELLINGTON, July 4. When the House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m., notice of intention to introduce the* following Bills were given: Invalid Pensions (Mr. J. O’Brien); Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports), (Hon. J. G. Cobbe); Earthquake Protection (Mr. W. EBarnard). Mr- J. Hargest asked the Minister of Customs whether the embargo on citrus fruits other than South Australian would be lifted this year, and the free entry of citrus fruits permitted. The Minister of Agriculture, Hon. C. E. Macmillan, replied that the question of lifting the embargo was tne subject of negotiation between the New Zealand and the Australian Governments. He expected a communica tion from the Comomnwealth Government, and hoped that th-e negotiations would be brought to a satisfactory con elusion at an early date. Mr. J. Linklater (Government, Maimwatu) asked if the Government was taking any action with regard to the repeated requests of motorists and automobite associations to increase the penalty for the conversion of motorcars. Hon. J. G. Cobbe replied that lhe Government had had the matter under consideration for some time. It was intended to introduce legislation at an early date in the direction of increasing penalties for the conversion of cars.
