STUDY OF METEORS

AT LITTLE AMERICA DANGEROUS TRIP POSTPONED Received Julv 4, 9.5 p.m. MONTREAL, July 3. A radio from Little America says that Dr. Poultcr announces that estimates based upon calculations arising from observations there during the past two months of winter darkness, indicate that the earth’s atmosphere is catching meteors at the enormous rate of a billion or more daily. Dr. Poulter is so impressed with his studies to date, that he is considering a tractor journey to the Bolling Advance weather station where Rear-Ad-miral Byrd is wintering, to place another meteor observer. Although the distance is only 123 miles, it would be a hazardous trip, requiring travel by moonlight, and a tractor journey of 300 miles over an exceptionally difficult terrain u n der win lor conditions.
