ANNUAL MEETING HELD ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the St. John’s Bowling Club was held last night, upwards of 60 members being present, while a large number of apologies for absence was received. After the presentation of prizes won i during the season, the election of of- | ficers took place, as follows:—Presi- I dent, Mr. J. F. Wight (re-elected);! vice-president, Mr. R. Michie (re- J elected; honorary secretary and treasurer, J\lr. H. S. Harris (re-elected), green superintendent, Mr. J. B. Jack (re-elected); committee, Messrs. Herd. Moffatt, Falconer, J. B. Smith, Rowling, Bassett, Gordon, Glover and Stone (all except the last two named were on the previous year’s committee), -match committee, Messrs. Moffatt, Benefield and Herd (re-elected); dele-: gates to Centre, Messrs. Wight, Gordon | and Moffatt. The Centre report and balance-sheet was read and received and Mr. G. S. I Gordon, who was congratulated on hi.s re-election to the Dominion Council, gave a resume of items of importance to be dealt with at the forthcoming meeting. It was mentioned during the evening that St. John’s Club ranks tenth for New Zealand in point of membership. Club Competitions.—The club full rink competition will this season be run on what is known as the “percentage fours,” really the so-called Ponsonby system with the addition that all players are handicapped, skips 1 to 3 inclusive, threes 4 to 6, leads 7 to 9, ami seconds 10 to 12. This system minimises the substitute evil of some other systems. The last eight of each clas> will be drawn up in rinks to find the winning rink. Singles Competition.—lt was decided that these games be played 21 up instead of 21 heads as formerly. Other competitions will be played on the same methods as last season. Three new members were nominated.
