SAMUEL MARSDEN
UNVEILING OF MEMORIAL. DOMINI! >N HEI’RESENTATION ? f Per Presj Association, j WELLINGTON, July 2. The hope that New Zealand will be represented at the unveiling of the nemorial to the famous missionary, Rev. Samuel Marsden, is expressed in a letter from a correspondent at Calverley, northern Leeds, to a friend in Wellington. The letter states; “At last we are putting up a memorial to that truly great man, Samuel Marsden, who was born at Parsley, and who went as chaplain to the settlement at Parramatta, Sydney, and was the first missionary to land in New Zealand. July 1934, will be jus’. 160 years since he born, and we are hoping to have unveiling on that date. I wonder if any relative, or some well-known man in the Church or mission Held, likely to be in this country at the time, could be present? In his way Marsden was as great a man as Livingstone, and we should very much like New Zealand to be rep resented at th*- y. ’ ’
